In March, 2013, Industry brought contemporary design to the Middle East at Design Days Dubai, the first fair in the region devoted exclusively to contemporary and historical design. As part of the occasion, the fair also invited gallery artist/designer Jens Praet to perform a live workshop on-site at the fair. For five days, Praet and his team shredded local copies of Harper’s Bazaar Living and turned them in a functional design (a Side Table, subsequently acquired by the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC). It’s its booth, the gallery exhibited a wide range of contemporary talent—Tom Price, Maarten de Ceulaer, Jens Praet, Philip Michael Wolf, Tejo Remy & Rene Veenhuizen, Lanzavecchia + Wai, and Antonio Pio Saracino. For five days, under the glow of the towering Burj Khalifa next door, Industry explored contemporary themes in American and European design and provided a window into this world to all guests who visited the booth.
