SCI-Arc's newest scholarship led by Elena Manferdini
Industry is proud to announce that architect Elena Manferdini will spearhead a new scholarship at the Southern Californian Institute of Architecture.
Called the European Union 2016 Scholarship, the award covers full tuition for Sci-Arc's 2016-2017 academic year for any citizen of the European Union. Such an opportunity resonates strongly with Manferdini, who left Italy for Los Angeles on a scholarship of her own.
"At 22 I came to Los Angeles on a scholarship to pursue a Master of Architecture degree," says Manferdini. "20 years later, I have built a prestigious career in this country."
Manferdini's story follows that of many Sci-Arc students; like her, over half of Sci-Arc's student population comes from abroad. She believes both the innovation and support of Sci-Arc can serve as a launching point for a young artist.
"I know firsthand how a scholarship and the trust of an institution can change someone's career," says Manferdini. "I am proud to be able to give back and offer the same opportunity to another talented young architect to realize his or her own dreams."
The deadline to apply is June 30th, and the application can be found here.
